Dr. Sukhwant Dhaliwal Seminar: Gender, violence against women and girls and fundamentalism

Dr Sukhwant Dhaliwal is a Senior Lecturer at London Metropolitan University and a Senior Research Fellow at the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit at the University. She is the Course Leader for the MA Woman and Child Abuse programme. She has a background in the VAWG sector, having worked for several minoritised women’s organisations and is currently on the management board of Southall Black Sisters. She has worked across a number of research projects at the intersection of ‘race’ and other axes of power notably, age and disability. She has been campaigning and writing on gender and fundamentalism since 1995. She has authored several articles on fundamentalism and, with Nira Yuval Davis, is the co-editor of the autobiographical collection Women Against Fundamentalism: Stories of Dissent and Solidarity.
