Black History month has been celebrated in the UK since 1987, Black History Month is an annual celebration that acknowledges the contributions, achievements, and history of Black African and Afro-Caribbean people around the world.

nia is very pleased to be celebrating Black History month this October around the theme for this year of ‘Celebrating our Sisters, Saluting our Sisters, and Honouring Matriarchs of Movements’. We are a feminist organisation, committed to the liberation of all women.

Throughout the month, nia will upload quotes from inspirational black women, films and music. Internally, we will be hosting a series of morning/lunch time talks/book club and training sessions.

Of course, it is not just about October. As Audre Lorde said, “revolution is not a one-time event”.
