Women on the margins

Women on the margins

Women on the Margins presentation

The voices of women who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including those exploited through prostitution, are not often heard in the narratives of our time. ‘Women on the margins’, developed by the Anita Project team, provides a focus on prostitution, allowing us to take the opportunity of this special day to foreground our work in this space.

‘Women on the margins’ is a project by the women of nia, celebrating the stories, work or contributions that have affected us and inspired us. There have always been women who have lived their lives outside of the demands of patriarchy: women who have lived far from the ideals of this system but who live despite it, who are squeezed out from the centre and in toward the margins. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we wish to centre these women.
